Costa Rica

Well, on my first trip out of the country I went to Costa Rica! It was the summer before high school and I was pretty excited. It was going to be my first time out of the country without my whole family. Well, I was going to have my mom there but I wouldn't be around her all the time. Yes, it was another girl scout trip but it was going to be awesome. I had no idea what to pack, and of course waited until the last minute...literally the night before I was up until midnight. The thing I was most worried about was the flight. It was around a six hour flight and I had never been on a plane for that long. But, the day came that we met up at the airport and the journey began.

The flight flew buy...literally. I took some sleeping medicine before we got on the plane and the last thing I remember was eating lunch before arriving. I do remember waking up to my mom taking a picture of me sleeping, but I passed out very easily after that.

When we arrived, the country was beautiful. There was so much vegitation and just by looking outside you could tell it was humid. I remember stepping outisde and feeling like I was swimming. We met up with our tour guide and we headed off to the hotel. It reminded me of a small city, like St. Louis.

We were on our own for dinner that night, and we went to an authentic Mexican restaurant. We ordered chips and salsa, and fajitas. I was super excited to try this food because we have Mexican in Wentzville, but of course it wouldn't be the same. We tried the salsa first and it was delicious! It was spicy, but not too spicy. The next is the fajitas and I was too excited. We put together a tortilla with salsa, guacamole, beef, lettuce, and cheese. My first bite was amazing. The beef was super tender, and delicious.

We tried several other foods while we were there, but that fajita was the first taste into something new. I couldn't wait to try more!
